The Entlebuch Biosphere is a natural reserve at the foot of the Alps, and includes the valley of the Little Emme River between Bern and Lucerne. In 2001, the region became the second UNESCO Biosphere Reserve in Switzerland, after the Swiss National Park.
We took the cable car up to Marbachegg and were instantly amazed by the mystical world full of peace and inspiration ahead of us. We ended up doing an 11km hike around the unspoilt moorlands and idyllic Alpine pastures with the majestic Schrattenfluh towering above and snowy mountains in the distance.
